Just a little welcome to new followers!

I'm assuming The Higton Effect [t.m.] has brought a few of you over, and I just want to say it is appreciated. I hope you find something to enjoy in Life is 2-D, I am "working" hard on Episode 5 - quite literally, pausing to post this! - and as ever I'm extremely grateful for any interest, follows, feedback etc. To give a quick overview - this project started amid the pandemic and was initially just a "could the base story of Life is Strange work in this format" and the bigger question "could someone with zero real programming experience learn enough to do so". Initially for my own amusement (which it still is) but after positive responses to some super early proof of concept demos posted to /r/lifeisstrange, I made it more public in the hope of people seeing that with a tool like GB Studio, they COULD make a real Gameboy title from scratch that actually works on hardware, not just an "in the style of" game. I also produced a couple of short proof of concept "how fast can you make something" demos for Before the Storm and True ColoUrs, games which I also enjoyed on first run, although I took them down after a particularly salty tweet from Deck Nine in response to running commentary on the "remastered" LiS. They may return some day regardless.

I came to Life is Strange through the classic Johnny and Aoife Let's Play route on Eurogamer. I have been /unbelievably/ fortunate over time to have known Dayeanne Hutton (voice of Kate/Juliet/Alyssa, along with others in Honkai and such since, and all-round good bean actor/streamer), and in deeply humbling manner these days I know a number of Don't Nod people are aware of and following on twitter, including Luc Baghadoust and even Life is Strange's co-creator Michel Koch. A fact that will never, ever fit in my head and certainly raises the pressure at times!

I still think of this as my "silly little fangame" - it's a tribute to Life is Strange, done purely for love of it. And it is and always shall be free. I would rather any money go to the likes of the Trevor Project, or to help in Ukraine or Gaza... or even go sub to that lovely Higton fellow for his years of entertainment. So if you feel the need - there's the options I'd prefer.

Please, enjoy it.
